72 Pin EDO Simm - 60NS

Extended Data-Out (EDO) is a DRAM chip technology which improves memory performance 10 to 15% over equivalent Fast Page Mode devices. Computer systems must be designed to take advantage of this performance increase EDO offers. Intel's Triton Chip set, used in Pentium-class computers, are designed to do just that. EDO Ram memory may be installed into most other computer systems but they will function and perform as a Fast Page Mode memory module.

A Simm (Single Inline Memory Module) consists of a number of memory components that are attached to a PCB (Printed Circuit Board. The tin or gold pins on the bottom of the Simm provide a single line of communication line between the module and the motherboard. They are generally found in older 486 or Pentium desktops but are also used in printers. 

Each 72 Pin Simm provide a 32 bit data path and therefore can be installed singly in 486 desktops but must be installed in pairs in Pentium based machines. 

The number of black components on a 72 Pin Simm may vary but they always have one small cutout along the row of pins on the bottom of the module.
