Do I need more memory?

So how do you know if you computer is due for a memory upgrade? Well the following information should help you determine the answer to this question : –

– Has your machine recently started to slow down? This could have happened due to the installation of more software or that you are now utilising more applications on that machine all at once.

– Can you hear you hard drive working away more than usual? This is generally due to information being passed to and from the back end of the hard drive as there is not enough memory to deal with all of the requests the system is sending.  

– Are you looking at upgrading your operating system? When you upgrade your operating system there will be a minimum amount of memory required to install.  You will then need to think about how much memory you will require to run any other applications you wish to have on the machine.

– Are you receiving “Low memory” notifications from the operating system? You will receive these messages such as “Low Memory” or Out of Memory” when the machine cannot handle the request you have sent it as all of the memory you currently have installed is being utilized by the machine for other operations. You would generally at this point have to close down the machine and reboot in order to be able to refresh the RAM to then continue with what you wish to do.
